For the cake layers you mean? If you employ salted butter then don’t add any salt to the cake recipe. I would not recommend salted butter for the frosting.

Hi Mary! Using 9″ pans would make the layers fairly a bit thinner than mine. I would strive it with 8″ (or 1.5x the recipe) and make sure to use room temp elements and not overmix the batter.
